American Express joins forces with local businesses

Big news: Small Business Saturday, from American Express is offering its members a $25 gift card when they use their members’ card for purchases at small, neighborhood shops. Many local merchants are getting involved in the program, and the offer is valid through Friday, Dec. 31.

The national event, which began on Nov. 27, was created to bolster the economy and to help encourage shoppers around the U.S. to purchase their goods at their neighborhood mom and pop shops.

I registered and went directly to Shambala for Christmas gifts (and spent much more than $25). The credit showed up immediately on my statement with the charge. Piece of cake!
