St. Louis Cardinals fans in Oak Cliff?

As noted over on the Advocate Lake Highlands blog, my family has a Rangers/Cardinals conflict, mixed with a big wedding this weekend. I was born in Missouri to Cardinals fans, and I rooted for the Cardinals all through the post season, until now. They’re my favorite National League team. It feels strange to be going against them in the World Series. But it’s fun, too.

There are a few other Cards fans in the neighborhood. Lockhart Smokehouse co-owner Tim McLaughlin is from St. Louis. There are a few references to the Show Me State mixed in with the restaurant’s Texas memorabilia.

And just across Bishop at The Shop in Oak Cliff, co-owner P.j. Thebeaux is rooting for the Cards too. He is a lifelong fan originally from Granite City, Ill.

Razz them if you like. But be gentle. They’re so going down.
