JeffersonTowerConstructionThe makeover of Jefferson Tower started in November and could be completed within a year.

Jim Lake Cos., which took the lead in revamping the Bishop Arts District starting in 1985, is updating storefronts on the building at 301-375 W. Jefferson. The company also is “creating residential lofts above the retail level and improving he street by repairing sidewalks and adding trees, landscaping, lighting, awnings, benches and bicycle racks,” according to a news release.

Small Brewpub, the start-up beer maker that hosts monthly backyard parties, will have a permanent space in the building’s ground floor. Current street-level tenants Family Dollar, Gonzalez Restaurant and Bella Dental will remain.

The office tower is 92 percent leased, and new tenants are expected to be announced soon.
