Restaurant round-up: Davis Street Espresso, Lent, Plano, sous chefs

Davis Street Espresso is now open Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Still closed on Sundays.

La Calle Doce has this Lent special: lentil soup, one shrimp enchilada, nopalitos con huevos (cactus with eggs), fish croquette with chili con queso and capirotada (bread pudding), for $11 at lunch and $13 at dinner.

Smoke, the restaurant at the Belmont Hotel, is expanding to Plano. Our other trendy barbecue place, Lockhart Smokehouse, just opened a second restaurant there a couple of weeks ago.

Here is chef Eric Shelton’s brunch menu for Kitchen LTO. And here is a Q&A with Shelton, a native of Connecticut, from a Connecticut newspaper.

Driftwood was kind enough to invite me to their “seven sous” dinner, featuring a seven-course meal from some of the city’s best sous chefs, last week. It was wonderful, but all of my pictures were terrible, so I direct you to CraveDFW’s coverage of the same dinner.
