City Council’s economic development committee today approved a plan from Henry S. Miller Co. to build a 318-unit apartment complex on an undeveloped 4-acre tract northwest of the hotel off Fort Worth Avenue.

The  $43-million project, called Cliff View, could receive $4.65 million from the Fort Worth Avenue TIF District for paving, street scape, utilities, parks, trails, environmental remediation and mixed-income housing.

About 20 percent of the units would be available only to families earning 80 percent of the area median family income, which is $54,000 for a family of four.

The apartment complex could receive approval from City Council at their May 28 meeting and then construction would begin this year.

The apartment complex would have a mix of buildings from two stories to seven stories and an above-ground parking garage, all of which is allowed under the current zoning.

“Buildings and the parking garage are nestled into the hill to minimize the impact on the adjacent neighborhood,” the company’s presentation states.

Cliff View also will have a pool deck with a skyline view and connections to planned trails. The project is expected to be completed by December 2016.
