Authors Julia Reynolds and Alfredo Corchado appear at the Wild Detectives at 7 p.m. Thursday with their respective books, “Blood in the Fields: Ten Years Inside California’s Nuestra Familia Gang” and “Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter’s Journey Through a Country’s Descent Into Darkness.”

Cinewilde presents “The Bride of Frankenstein” at the Texas Theatre Thursday. On Halloween, Friday, the theater has “Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages,” starting at 10:30 p.m. The family friendly “Cirque du Horror” starts at 7:30.
