The North Oak Cliff Library sponsors an art contest. Submit Day of the Dead-related artwork by 6 p.m. Oct. 24 to be judged. Awards are presented at a reception at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. The contest is open to children grades k-12 and can be in any medium.

Learn how to make crafts for a Day of the Dead altar in a free workshop at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center. The class offers a primer in the tradition and symbolism, and artists Karla Arte will instruct participants in creating masks and photo frames.

Maroches Bakery invites the public to celebrate el Día de los Muertos from 11:45 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. They’ll have food, art and music all day.

Los Muertos on Bishop is from 6-10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Cigar Art, the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, Four Corners Brewery and the Advocate sponsor the event, which features Aztec dancers, local art and an “altar” for donations to the North Texas Food Bank.
