Former City Councilwoman Angela Hunt tells Dallas, “we need to talk,” in her February column for the Lakewood/East Dallas Advocate.

Dallas focuses too much on big-ticket items to make itself seem “world-class” and projects that benefit the suburbs more than its own neighborhoods, she says.

I want you to take a good, long look in the mirror. Embrace who you are. Get comfortable with the fact that you are not Paris or London or New York City. Stop trying to impress your regional friends with more and more freeways. Stop collecting fancy baubles to show off to the rich kids.
She encourages the city to focus on neighborhoods and to “think big about the small things” that will improve quality of life for the people who live here.
