Crime update: A home invasion and a 15-year-old murdered

Two tragic and frightening crimes have taken place in our neighborhood in the past week.

Four burglars entered a home in the 2400 block of West Jefferson, near Plymouth, around 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 24. They ransacked the house and took cash, jewelry and an iPad. One of the men sexually assaulted a woman who was home at the time. Information from police suggests the woman knew her attackers.

A jogger Sunday morning found the body of a teenage boy in an alley near Brooklyn and Ravinia. Police identified him as 15-year-old Joe Martinez, a student at Raul B. Quintanilla Middle School. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest, and police are seeking suspects. Anyone with information on Martinez’s death should call Dallas Police, 214.671.3684.
