The French restaurant and wine bar on West Davis at Edgefield has closed.

Jean-Michel Sahouki opened Bouchon 1314 in the fall of 2015 and decided recently to cut his losses, closing last weekend.

“It really was a cash trap for us,” Sahouki says. “We put so much money into it, and we never really got anything out of it.”

Sahouki’s has two children, ages 11 and 13. And his 90-year-old mother is ailing, he says. Besides that, he has some health problems of his own, and he plans to focus on family and taking care of himself.

“It’s better to part like that and move on with life,” he says.

Very sad to hear this. Really enjoyed the food and vibe of this restaurant. Jean-Michel was always an attentive host.

Great service. Great food. Will be missed as our occasional/rare date night spot.
