The event’s organizers found themselves joining more and more boards and serving the community in other ways. So they handed it off to their major sponsor, the nonprofit Memnosyne Institute.

“They ran out of steam,” says Coke Buchanan of the Memnosyne Institute. “I suggested we take it over because we’ve got a paid staff.”

The day starts with a 5k, Run for the Environment, at 9:30 a.m.

The festival itself, now in its 10th year, is from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and includes speakers and performances from singers and dance troupes. Find the full schedule here.

There will also be food trucks, artists, nonprofits and more represented.
