The crash killed one person and injured five others, including two children.

City Councilman Scott Griggs created a police task force on speeding and illegal street racing after a speeding truck hit a house on Twelfth Street two weeks ago.

“Speeding and illegal street racing is terrible throughout Oak Cliff and other parts of Southern Dallas,” Griggs stated on Facebook.

Since then, the Dallas Police Department has made dozens more stops every week on 12th, Hampton, Kiest Polk and Simpson Stuart.

Griggs says the accident Monday night is a felony and that he the task force plan to meet with the Dallas County District Attorney to discuss cracking down on criminal charges of excessive speeding.
