Wynnewood gets $4 million for storm drain upgrades

A developer wants to add a 75,000-square-foot movie theater and a 34,000-square-foot gym to the Wynnewood Village Shopping center, but that can’t happen until storm-water improvements are made.

The Dallas City Council last week approved spending $4 million to build 2,200 feet of 8-foot by 8-foot drainage pipes for the shopping center.

About $1.7 million for the project comes from 2017 bond funds, and about $2.3 million from economic development funds. Once a construction contract is awarded, the project will take about five months to complete.

When Brixmor explained their plan to neighbors in January, they had been expecting to announce leases soon after. No announcements have come so far, but Brixmor told us recently that they could be announced soon.
