Now serving: Top notch tacos and queso at the Kessler Theater

Have dinner and a show without ever leaving the historic Kessler Theater.

The kitchen is open with chef Lisa Martel Mohon of Winnetka Heights at the helm.

A recent pop-up menu was small, but it had everything you could want: carnitas tacos ($5 for two), chips and queso blanco ($5), elote ($3) and an avocado tostada ($5).

We tried the carnitas tacos Sunday night. They were delicious and juicy and just the right amount of food. This isn’t just bar food because you are hungry and tipsy. It’s legit.

They’re still working out a permanent menu, and this isn’t dinner theater, but for a quick bite, it’s everything.
