She was an animated teenager who loved fashion and makeup and who was beloved by her family and classmates at Kimball High School.

The girl died in a crash on her way to school last week.

Torres was riding in an SUV with four other Kimball students at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, when another car clipped their vehicle on Westmoreland at Illinois.

The SUV spun out of control and hit a light pole. Torres was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

“She was just an amazing girl,” friend Laura Rodriguez told NBC DFW. “At first, you don’t believe it and then it starts hitting you like more and more that she’s actually gone and that she is not going to come back.”

A 16-year-old passenger in the front seat of the SUV has a broken ankle, a 15-year-old suffered head injuries, and another passenger in the backseat had a broken leg. The driver of the SUV was uninjured. The 19-year-old driver of the other car also was uninjured and has not been charged with a crime.
