The world lost one of Oak Cliff’s greatest last week.
Jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove died of cardiac arrest caused by kidney disease Nov. 2. He was 49.
A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts, he was credited for bringing be-bop into a new era, and he frequently collaborated with hip-hop and R&B artists.
The Guardian listed 10 key performances from Hargrove’s career. We suggest giving them all a listen. But the most Dallas-y is this one, “Green Eyes,” with Booker T. classmate Erykah Badu, from her 2000 album “Mama’s Gun.”
