The ‘mayor’s house’ is for lease, and it’s not cheap

The Jim Lake Cos. fought to have the 1910 Oak Cliff mayor’s house rezoned to allow a restaurant tenant in 2017.

Now the two-story building at 635 N. Zang is for lease. The rate for the 3,725-square-foot building is $30 per square foot per year. That works out to $111,750 a year or $9,312.50 per month, plus about $2,000 a month triple net.

Dallas Mayor George Sergeant built the house in 1910, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt reportedly drank lemonade on the porch when they were in town for the 1936 Texas Centennial.
