The City of Dallas is on top of a mysterious spill at Oak Cliff Nature Preserve.

After we reported a foul smell and the response from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, we received this update from  the city’s Environmental Quality & Sustainability director James McGuire.

The response included immediate removal of suspect surface water with a vacuum truck, dye testing and video camera inspections of stormwater lines.  There are ongoing site inspections of nearby potential source facilities to ensure that the root cause is appropriately addressed.  We take water quality and protection of our environment and natural resources in Dallas very seriously, and sincerely appreciate your efforts to raise awareness and help protect Oak Cliff Nature Preserve.

McGuire asks that residents who notice water pollution in Dallas to call 311 and report it.
