A Dallas-based company that helps urbanites make the dream of an edible garden a reality now offers a virtual camp for kids.
Gardenuity’s Good Thyme Gardening Camp is a two-session camp for kids ages 4 to 10. The first session kicks off July 29, and the second is Aug. 1.
Participants will plant and care for their own gardens of fresh herbs and vegetables at home. Each virtual camper receives a gardening kit with everything needed for their garden: organic plants, a grow bag, soil and plant nutrients. The camp also covers how to cook garden-inspired recipes.
The whole thing takes place on Zoom and includes a sign language interpreter. A portion of registration fees will go to Save the Children.
“I see the garden as a great equalizer,” Gardenuity cofounder Donna Letier says. “Children of all ages, abilities, and location can grow together and experience the joy that comes with nurturing something good.”
Gardenuity started in Dallas five years ago, and cofounder Julie Eggers has lived in Preston Hollow for 25 years.
