Workers at a neighborhood restaurant told police that multiple robbers brandished weapons and demanded money Saturday afternoon.
Police responded to the call of a robbery in progress at Lulu’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant, 1234 Newport Ave., at about 1:35 p.m., and witnessed several people fleeing the scene. Officers chased the men on foot, but they got away.
No serious injuries were reported.
This was the second violent crime reported in Elmwood recently.
A week earlier, a man called police to report that he had been shot while driving his car in the 1700 block of Newport Avenue at about 5 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 17.
