On December 8, Dallas County reported an additional 860 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 48 deaths for the week ending November 20, 2020, bringing the cumulative total number of confirmed cases up to 137,143 and confirmed deaths to 1,245, or 0.9% of total cases. The seven-day average of daily new and probable cases (by date of test collection) for the week ending November 28 was 1,117, which is a rate of 42.4 daily cases per 100,000 residents.
An additional 245 probable cases of COVID-19 were reported, bringing the total probable case count in Dallas County to 13,797 with 39 probable deaths from COVID-19. Between March 9 and December 8, 2020, the age group 18-40 made up 46% of total COVID-19 cases in Dallas County while adults aged 65 and older made up just 9%, but adults 65 and older made up 62% of total confirmed deaths while adults aged 18-40 made up 4%. Positivity rate for the coronavirus remains high at 22.3% in the week ending November 28 in North Texas hospitals. The positivity rate has been increasing or steady each week since October 3.

The most impacted race/ethnic group in Dallas is the Hispanic community. Hispanics make up 46% of confirmed deaths and 45% of hospitalizations while making up only 41% of the population. Conversely, 24% of deaths and 19% of people hospitalized were white, even though white people make up 29% of the Dallas County population.
People in long-term care facilities and those with underlying health conditions are still at the highest risk. Hospitalized cases make up 8% of the total case number, and people with a high risk medical condition make up 55% of hospitalizations and 76% of deaths, while residents of long-term care facilities make up 23% of deaths in Dallas County.
97% of Dallas County testing is processed by independent commercial and hospital laboratories.
