The Dallas Police Department says Timothy Allen was shot and killed while delivering food in West Dallas last month.
The 65-year-old was a pianist known for his performances at bars and events as well as for his years-long gig playing for shoppers at Nordstrom.
“He was an excellent musician and a great friend to anyone who had the opportunity to know him. I think he’d want us to remember the way he lived, and not the senselessly tragic way he had to go,” his friend, Bill Richardson, told the Dallas Observer last month.
Allen, who graduated from Bryan Adams High School, survived a heart attack in September. He was driving during the episode and also crashed his car into a tree. He’d just had a pacemaker installed and had posted on social media that he’d received the COVID-19 vaccine, the weekly newspaper reports.
Now police say he was shot while delivering food to the Hampton at Lakewest Apartments on Dec. 22. He was reported missing the following day, and police found him in his car.
Allen is one of several drivers who have been violently targeted in Dallas recently. On Jan. 9, a woman was abducted from a Far North Dallas apartment complex where she was delivering pizza. In that case, a man forced her to the passenger seat of her car and forced her to withdraw money from an ATM. She managed to get away from him when he stopped at a convenience store on Bernal Drive in West Dallas. The attacker got away in the victim’s white Kia Sportage and hasn’t been caught.
A day before that, 33-year-old ride-share driver Joshua Miller’s murder in far southeast Dallas was caught on audio and video.
