The Oak Cliff Cultural Center celebrates Harlem Renaissance painter Laura Wheeler Waring with a children’s poetry contest next month.
Elementary school students are invited to submit poetry based on the prompt “Beautiful Shades of Brown.” There are prizes for the top 10 judged entries.
Email poems to monica.luna@dallascityhall.com by Feb. 19, and winners will be selected on Feb. 26.
