“The input from you and your neighbors will play a very significant role in shaping efforts to reduce excessive traffic speeds and illegal street racing on Hampton Road between Fort Worth Avenue and Wright Street,” reads the description at the top of the survey.

In an attempt to slow traffic on Hampton, the task force implemented a road diet from mid-October until the end of December which used traffic cones to close off the outside lane on weekends. The strategic lane reduction was successful in regards to street racing. When it was implemented, Hampton saw about a 75% decrease in 911 calls related to street blockage and a 65% decrease in calls related to street racing.

Now, the task force wants feedback from Oak Cliff residents about traffic issues along the road and about the lane closures that were in effect last year.

“This is community driven. We’re trying to figure out if people want change before we continue,” says Oak Cliff resident Becky Moffett, the head of the Hampton Road Task Force. “Based on the survey results, we’ll take the data and look over it, and then we’ll go to the transportation department and talk about the different options we have.”

The survey is available in both English and Spanish, which can be changed by a toggle tab at the top right of the page. The survey is open until March 7 and takes about five minutes to complete.
