BREWED LTD IS THE BISHOP ARTS COFFEE SHOP you might not know about. That’s because it’s tucked inside the plaza of Novel Bishop Arts apartment complex on the northeast corner of Zang and Davis.

Some in Oak Cliff worried that new development would eliminate the small-town feeling of Bishop Arts, but Brewed general manager Jenny Benningfield says their corner is very tight-knit.

“I think it’s part of my job to show residents moving here from other countries, other states, other cities how communal Bishop Arts is meant to be” she says. “The staff is always helping people make connections, and I’ve seen many friendships form here.”

When two residents were quarantined last year, Brewed allowed them to run tabs, and their orders were delivered to their doors.

“We would just wave from down the hall and tell them how much we love them,” Benningfield says.

This shop is a spinoff of the original on Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth, but it also has roots in Oak Cliff. It has the same ownership as Eno’s Pizza Tavern.

Popular specialties include the Candy Bar Latte, made with caramel and vanilla syrup, and the Thai-licious, with sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon syrup. All of the syrups are made in house, and this location has crafted several of its own recipes, including lavender, strawberry and rose.

Along with espresso drinks, Brewed aims to please any style of caffeine consumer, with press pots, pour-overs, nitro cold-brew and loose-leaf hot tea. They also serve Taco Deli tacos and pastries from La Casita. They don’t have a kitchen, but they bring in caprese, prosciutto and chicken-salad sandwiches from Eno’s daily.
