Partnership with Apple helps bring 21st-century tools to Dallas ISD students

February’s winter storm wreaked havoc across Texas, including right here in Dallas. While Dallas ISD was not spared — we had over 100 schools damaged — our district staff worked around the clock and had all but four schools back up and running the following week!

Dallas ISD District 7 Monthly Updates

  • Apple partners with Dallas to build 21st century learning systems: Apple will be partnering with Dallas ISD to help bring 21st century educational tools to Dallas ISD, with a focus on improving literacy. This partnership will expand digital literacy and fluency with our early learning department, helping refresh our school libraries and support our pioneering hybrid school.
  • Sidney Lanier teacher Ms. Nelson brings art and technology to theater:  A few years ago, when a current parent of two Sidney Lanier students learned there was a theater vacancy at the school, she stepped up and stepped in! Ever since, she’s continued to grow and excel in her craft, and we’re so lucky to have Ms. Nelson here in District 7 at Sidney Lanier Vanguard for the Expressive Arts (soon to be the Jesús Moroles Vanguard for the Expressive Arts).
  • Dallas ISD’s Average Teacher Salary Now $63,000: Dallas ISD’s evaluation and compensation system, Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI), continues to pay dividends while raising teacher salaries above surrounding districts. Not only has the salary moved up for all teachers across the system, Dallas ISD’s system is helping to retain our most effective teachers at exceptionally high rates, which helps to continue to improve student outcomes. The Dallas Morning News published an editorial with specific details on the successes seen so far.
