Sports tears were flowing for Kimball High School this weekend.

Not because of their boys basketball team’s heartbreaking one-point loss in the final seconds of overtime in a thrilling 5A state championship game Friday.

It’s because we’re so proud of them!

Kimball High School has six state titles in its trophy case, the latest was in 2014, dating back to 1990. But it has hundreds of outstanding students every year.

Head Coach Nick Smith says of the team’s discipline: “That’s something you can’t teach, but the culture at Kimball High School, that’s something that’s been embedded in in them, and when these guys step into day one, they feel that culture, and it becomes a part of their every day lives.”

The announcer on Inside High School Sports calls Kimball “the cardiac kids” because of their record of coming back to win in overtime. And he calls the game, “an absolute classic.”
