Banyan Residential, a California-based developer, has started construction on Banyan Beckley, the first of two massive apartment complexes on the east side of the street just south of Interstate 30.

The complex will have 279 units and cost $55 million, the Dallas Morning News reports. It will be five stories wrapped around a parking garage. It is expected to open in 2023.

Here’s how Banyan’s website describes Banyan Beckley:

This luxury apartment community offers residents central proximity to downtown Dallas, and will feature a wide range of amenities including a resort-style pool, mobile workspace areas, multi-purpose clubhouse, and rooftop deck with stunning views of the city skyline across the Trinity River basin.

Banyan Bishop Arts

The developer is planning a second complex, Banyan Bishop Arts, nearby. It will have 287 units. Both complexes will replace commercial buildings.

An extension of the Coombs Creek Trail will run through the complex, according to its website.

Banyan Residential is based in Los Angeles and “is currently working on $750 million worth of multifamily projects with more than 3,300 units in Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe, Ariz., and Houston, Dallas and Denver,” according to the newspaper.

Banyan Beckley is being constructed in partnership with Indiana-based real estate firm Milhaus, and Dallas-based JHP designed it. Scott Lake, Jake Milner and Mike Lester with Davidson & Bogel Real Estate brokered the land sale.
