Katie Fuerst and Margaret Tipton named the piece “Dallas Postcard,” and they painted it freehand with no projectors or stencils.

“We wanted it to have a really playful, handmade look,” Tipton says. “We think it is a fun image to get a photograph made in front of, whether you are visiting Dallas or live here.”

A few other murals have popped up recently in that area, including this Mohammad Ali one, which is an ad for an upcoming Ken Burns documentary.

Remember the mural on the back of Dan’s Food Store on West Seventh? It depicted an ape holding a human skull, and it had been there since the ’90s, but someone had tagged over it. So artist Memo Gonzalez, who lives nearby, volunteered to paint this space mural. Gonzalez also donated a mural to St. Cecilia Catholic Church recently.

Here’s a companion piece to our Lee Harvey Oswald mural. This Bonnie and Clyde mural near Seventh and Van Buren is by Armando Aguirre.
