A Dallas man faces felony charges related to the gas explosion that injured four firefighters and several residents last month.

Dallas Fire Rescue investigators believe Philip Dankins, 28, fired a shot into an apartment unit that hit a gas line connected to a stove, causing a gas leak. What led to the shooting remains undetermined.

Fumes from the gas leak were ignited the following morning when Dallas Fire Rescue responded to a gas leak.

Dankins faces seven counts of deadly conduct after being associated with the explosion that displaced close to 300 residents. Dankins has been in the Dallas County Jail since the early part of October on a family violence warrant.

Two of the four firefighters injured in the explosion remain in serious but stable condition.
