South Oak Cliff High School beat 10-time football state champion school Aledo on Nov. 26, advancing to the fourth round of playoffs.

The team needs two more wins to get to the 5A state championship game on Dec. 18.

The Golden Bears take on Lovejoy Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Ford Center in Frisco (buy tickets). Here is their UIL bracket.

A Dallas ISD football team hasn’t won the state championship since Sunset High School in 1950.

The media is saying “underdog” and “Cinderella story,” but SOC has been a powerhouse of athleticism for several decades.

SOC is the alma mater of an awesome number of high-level athletes, including numerous NFL and NBA players, a Super Bowl MVP and Olympic medalists.

The Dallas Morning News called coach Jason Todd a “master motivator and teacher of life lessons.” Todd’s grandfather, Frederick Todd, was longtime principal of SOC.

Todd told KTVT the team wears the date of the state champion game, 12/18/21, on their shirts.

“That’s the ultimate goal,” he says. Watch below.
