Our neighborhood already knows what Food Network told the world recently: Chamoy is an irresistible treat from Mexico.

The sweet, sticky condiment made from fruit is predicted to be among the nation’s top food trends for in 2022.

We expect chamoy that is made locally or in-house, like at the snack shop Chamoy No. 5 or restaurant Chamoy Locos.

Several cottage businesses in Oak Cliff, such as Vuelve la Vida, make the condiment, and it’s not hard to whip up at home to eat on sliced cucumbers and other fruit.

It can also be made into candy, or dulces enchilados, like the ones Texas Crunchies and other vendors in our neighborhood offer.

Other food trends predicted for this year: hasdogeu, which are like Korean corn dogs, plus ranch water, ’90s cocktails and instant coffee.
