It’s still cheaper to rent in Dallas than to buy a house here, even with “unheard of” rent increases.
That’s according to Attom Data Solutions, as reported by the Dallas Morning News, in a report that also shoved Dallas off a list of affordable cities in the United States.
Median home prices in Dallas have risen about 47% in the past 10 years, while median rents have increased about 25% in the same period, the report found.
In Oak Cliff, home prices remain among the lowest in our city. Only the Kessler Park/Bishop Arts area, ZIP code 75208, are prices in line with the citywide median home price of $429,000, according to November statistics from Redfin.
Elsewhere in Oak Cliff, median home prices remain under $300,000.
In neighborhoods where homes cost the least, however, prices are rising more rapidly.
In ZIP codes 75216, 75203 and 75224, home prices increased 23% in November 2021, compared to the same month the previous year.
