Izaguirre, who grew up in apartments on Forest and Webb Chapel, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and has worked at WFAA, channel 8, since January 2008.

She began hosting the station’s “Wednesday’s Child,” which tells the stories of children who have suffered abuse or neglect who are in search of adoptive families, in 2011.

In 2018, she and her husband adopted a child out of foster care.

The CASA Dallas award recognizes outstanding contributions to children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

Izaguirre will be presented with the award at the Omni Dallas Hotel in May 6. During the program, she will be interviewed by Dallas Mavericks CEO and Dallas CASA board chair Cynt Marshall, who lives in Preston Hollow and also has adopted children.
