The exhibit is inspired by suburban flora and fauna, drawing heavily from the 1970s Pattern and Decoration movement. The flower forms fit in amongst the Texas native plant landscape of Terrain Dallas, a public exhibition space founded by Iris Bechtol. Since 2014, Terrain Dallas has focused on hosting temporary exhibitions by DFW artists in and around the landscape of a suburban home, according to a press release.

As a DFW-based interdisciplinary artist originally from Texas Hill Country, Galluzzi uses their work to advocate for cultivating joy and coping with the present. The press release states that as a queer and autistic person, they embrace pleasure as an act of rebellion in an indifferent and prejudiced world.

Galluzzi relocated to DFW, where they earned a bachelor’s in literary studies and arts and performance from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master’s of fine arts in painting and drawing from Texas Woman’s University. Currently, they teach art at Tarrant County College and Texas State Technical College.

A reception for There is Still Time To Stop and Smell The Flowers will take place June 14 from noon to 2 p.m. The exhibit will be on display at Terrain Dallas through Saturday, July 18. Viewing hours are available seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Terrain Dallas is located at 1122 Elmdale Place.
