The end could be near for a quaint residential block of the Bishop Arts District.
Redevelopment is inevitable for Eighth Street between Llewellyn and Adams, as The Advocate reported in 2018.
That’s when the block of small 20th century apartment complexes was “replatted” into one property, likely to make way for a large modern apartment complex.
Now demolition is underway on one of the buildings, although no permit has been pulled, according to an email to Mayor Pro-Tem Chad West from city staff.
Multifamily properties on the block belong to Lennar Multifamily Corp.
West is planning to arrange community meetings between the property owner and neighbors, according to emails his office sent to former Landmark Commission member Alicia Quintans.
