A store coming to Bishop Arts Sept. 24, Hideaway, will offer vintage and designer garments. At a weekend street sale proprietors previewed their collection of “categories, price points and brands curated in unexpected ways,” as they noted in the promo.

The shop will be located at 240 North Bishop upstairs.

Add it to the wealth of good resale shops in Oak Cliff. As we reported a few weeks ago, Dallas ranked No. 12 in the country for thrift-store and second-hand shopping, and the industry seems to be growing around here.

In 2021, secondhand clothing purchases displaced about 1 billion purchases of new clothing, according to that report, and that’s important, because:

“While some new clothing is sourced from sustainable (or even recycled) resources, the fashion industry is still one of the most polluting industries, due to fast fashion, in which companies make clothing cheaply and quickly to keep up with trends,” the authors note. “Unfortunately, these clothes aren’t made to last and quickly end up in landfills.”
