After a perfect season, the Argyle Eagles fell to South Oak Cliff last Friday, sending the Golden Bears back to the class 5A Div. II state championship. The final score of 14-6 was the largest point margin South Oak Cliff has secured so far in the playoff race.

Now, the Golden Bears have one more opponent to face before their reign continues.

Friday’s state final game will be played at AT&T stadium in Arlington, and South Oak Cliff will face off against Port Neches-Grove.  The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for the playoff game can be purchased here, and the code 5ADIIS can be used for a discount.

“It feels good to be back, but I really want to break the attendance record this week,” said South Oak Cliff Head Coach Jason Todd in a statement.

Port Neches-Grove is coming into the championship with a 13-2 record. South Oak Cliff stands at 12-3.

After starting the season with three losses, South Oak Cliff would be the first three-loss team to win the state championship since 2A Div. II Mart pulled off the feat in 2019.

South Oak Cliff High School will host a pep rally and send-off for the team this evening from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The South Oak Cliff marching band and cheerleaders will perform at the pep rally.
