Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow, or so the song goes.
North Texas isn’t anticipating much precipitation in the coming days, but low temperatures and windchills will be plunging the metroplex into chilly conditions.
Here is the list of businesses that are adjusting for the weather. The Advocate will update this list as businesses adjust for the freeze.
DART transportation:
In preparation for the dangerously cold forecast, DART has announced some transit stations will have extended hours from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 23 and 24.
The stations that will be open for extended hours are:
- Addison Transit Center
- CBD East Transfer Center
- CBD West Transfer Center
- Cockrell Hill Transfer Location
- Downtown Garland Station
- Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station
- Illinois Station
- J.B. Jackson Jr. Transit Center/MLK Jr. Station
- Ledbetter Station
- Parker Road Station
- South Garland Transit Center
A DART spokesperson says on-call teams will be in place across the region to ensure the weather does not impact service, and DART vehicles have been weatherized.
Dallas Zoo:
The Dallas Zoo will stay open on Thursday, Dec. 22, but the popular Dallas Zoo Lights will be closed. On Friday, the Zoo and Lights exhibit will both be cold.
Is there anything sweeter than our little Kalo? P.S. As winter temps arrive, please keep in mind that many of our animals might need to warm up in their cozy areas on the coldest days. Pro tip – head to the Herpetarium for the perfect place to warm up during your next visit. pic.twitter.com/WJ9LCdvavX

South Oak Cliff Parade:
A parade planned to celebrate the Golden Bears’ back-to-back state championship win has been postponed until Jan. 7, when temperatures are expected to warm up.
Fans of South Oak Cliff football are still brimming with enthusiasm following the big win, so we expect the parade will be worth the wait.
