Miguel Sereno faces one charge of murder for the slaying of 36-year-old Dylan Reeves.

According to court documents, Sereno waived his right to a court appointed attorney shortly after turning himself in to authorities on Jan. 5.

Sereno’s bail was set at $250,000.

Sereno was released to Dallas County pre-trial services on Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Family members say it was just after midnight on New Years Day when Reeves confronted a group of people who were shooting off guns near his home. Reeves was shot during the confrontation, and police began searching for Sereno who they believed was connected to the incident.

Police responded to the call to 4500 block of Mar Vista Trail  where they found Reeves laying in a driveway. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from the gun wound.
