Harold Thompson, 22, faces one charge of murder in connection with the death of 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez. Thompson has also been charged with one charge of assault of a family member.

Thompson was booked in the Dallas County Jail Wednesday evening and was denied bond at a Thursday court appearance.

Police say they received a shooting call to the Shell gas station located at 820 S. Walton Walker Blvd. around 7:30 Wednesday morning. When they arrived, they found Gonzalez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Gonzalez died at the scene, police said.

According to police, Gonzalez’s sister saw Gonzalez walking with Thompson, and then heard a gunshot.

A second witness told police they witnessed Thompson putting Gonzalez in a choke hold, and attempted to help Gonzalez after she had been shot.

Police say video footage showed Gonzalez “shrugging off” the chokehold shortly before Thompson pulled out a firearm. Thompson shot Gonzalez once in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, before shooting her several more times in the body, an arrest affidavit states.

Thompson then fled the scene, according to the affidavit.

Investigators determined that Gonzalez had just arrived home after traveling to Colorado to receive an abortion, which Thompson did not support, the affidavit says.

Police say they believe Thompson was the father of the child.

After Thompson was arrested he declined to give a statement, police said.
