The fest will take place Nov. 10-12, with one-day ticket prices ranging from $5 to $45. The Commemorative Air Force, a Dallas based nonprofit, will host the fest.

“There is no place in Texas better to spend Veteran’s Day weekend than the Aviation Discovery Fest,” said Henry “Hank” Coates, President/CEO of the Commemorative Air Force. “American veterans are celebrated in every aspect of this event, and their stories will come to life in ways that families cannot experience anywhere else.”

If riding a World War II-era airplane is on your bucket list, the Aviation Discovery Fest is the place to check it off. 11 airplanes will be available for ride rentals, with the funds generated by rides going to the plane’s preservation. Nine other vintage planes will be on display with interactive activities.

Also at the fest will be a flight simulator built into the cockpit of a C-47, the plane that led the main aerial Allied invasion on D-Day.

“Guests can strap into the cockpit and experience what it was like to fly teams of paratroopers into hostile territory as the Allies invaded Europe,” a statement from the CAF said.

A car show with vehicles from the 1930s through 1950s, live music and storytelling from veterans are just some of the other activities that will be at the fest.
