The Texas Theatre set the stage on Wednesday night for the world premiere of “The Iron Claw”, an A24 movie based on the legendary wrestling family, the Von Erichs of Dallas. The film, written and directed by Sean Durkin, features Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, and Stanley Simons.

This film delves deep into the tragic yet iconic story of the Von Erich family, who rose to wrestling stardom in Dallas. Durkin masterfully unveils their personal struggles, offering a vivid vignette of the Dallas-Fort Worth area in the 1980s and early 1990s and the entire wrestling world, complete with the signature Von Erich move, the iron claw.

“This is so incredible to be doing in Dallas, I mean what a dream to be here and to bring this movie here,” Durkin said before introducing the movie. “It’s a real privilege to make movies, but to make movies about your childhood heroes is a lifelong dream.”

The ensemble includes Efron as Kevin, White as Kerry, Dickinson as David and Simons as Mike.

Dallas was the natural choice for this grand debut, attracting the stars of the movie, the Von Erich family, the production and crew members and an array of local socialites, all converging on the red carpet and at the screening.

“The Iron Claw” releases in theaters to general audiences on Dec. 22.
