The Playboys will be under the direction of two-time Grammy winner Jason Roberts, and will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. Feb. 3. Tickets range from $22 to $44.

Back when the venue was called Bob Wills’ Ranch House, the Texas Playboys performed as the house band and gained a nation-wide reputation for their popular touring and recording hits. Following Bob’s death in 1975, several iterations of Texas Playboys have been resurrected.

In 2019, Roberts was picked to lead the current iteration of the group by the Bob Willis estate. The ensemble is made up of nine musicians.

“Today, the Bob Wills sound continues, as big and bright and brassy as ever,” the Longhorn Ballroom said in a statement. “Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys forge on through the 21st Century … The baton has been passed, and the hands that grasped it are crafting some of the finest examples of Bob Wills-style western swing anyone could ever want to hear.”

Doors to the ballroom open at 6:30, and the current house band will perform as the opening act.

The event is a fundraiser for the Texas Dance Hall Preservation, a Texas-based nonprofit that preserves historic dance halls.
