She highlighted the e-books, notary services, DVD catalogs and programs that many library locations offer, and the North Oak Cliff Branch Library in Oak Cliff is no different.

Here are five programs the North Oak Cliff library is offering neighbors this month.

Jan. 6: Geometric Painting for Seniors

Using canvas and acrylic paint provided at the event, participants will make works of art with any color and pattern. This event is part of the senior programming reserved for participants of at least 50 years of age.

Geometric painting will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 6.

Jan. 11: Money Smarts for Adults: Buying a Home

Presented by Candence Bank, the buying a home module is part of the North Oak Cliff Branch’s financial planning series. The class will assist participants with putting together personal financial information, develop a saving and spending plan, and offer additional financial advice that can be used to help save up for a home downpayment.

The home buying module will be held Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m.

Jan. 13: Scams, Fraud and Identity Theft for Seniors

A speaker from the Senior Source will lead a presentation on scams, fraud and identity theft schemes that routinely target the vulnerable elderly. This event is part of the senior programming reserved for participants of at least 50 years of age.

The class will take place Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.

Jan. 20: Movie Mania: Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Movie lovers have a place at the library too.

Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. the library will screen Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Jan. 27: Sew and Tell

Sewers, quilters, knitters and embroiderers unite! Sew and Tell will be an opportunity for our neighborhood crafters to come together to share tips and ideas, whether pros or beginners. The library will have sewing kits for 15 attendees.
