Frontera Festival will be held at The Wild Detectives, The Kessler Theater and the Texas Theatre April 12-13. It is free and open to the public.

Southern Methodist University’s English Department is sponsoring the festival. The university began sponsoring the Southwest Review in 1915.

Here’s a bit about who to expect at Frontera:

Headlining the festival will be a celebration of the work of writer Barry Gifford, which
will include a conversation with the author and a screening of David Lynch’s adaptation
of Gifford’s novel Wild at Heart. Additionally, the lineup features legendary comics
artists Los Bros Hernandez, co-creators of the long-running series Love and Rockets,
as well as musical artists Special Interest, Bass Drum of Death and Mexico City’s
Belafonte Sensacional. Frontera will also host readings by revered authors from
across the Americas including Julián Herbert, Sylvia Georgina Estrada, Fernanda
Melchor, Luis Jorge Boone, Mary Miller, Bud Smith, Mark Haber, Kendra Allen,
Jimmy Cajoleas, David Leo Rice, Willy Vlautin and William Boyle.
