After eight years in Deep Ellum, the annual Shakespeare Dallas pub crawl will move to Bishop Arts with stops at Bishop Exchange, the Wild Detectives and Taco Y Vino. Live performances, selfie opportunities, scavenger hunts, Shakespeare pub trivia and a costume contest are all on the agenda.

“We just felt like it was time to move to a new locale because we had been in Deep Ellum for so long,” Jenni Stewart, interim artistic director of Shakespeare Dallas, said. “The staff and owners (of the Bishop Arts bars) were really supportive of the idea.”

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for Shakespeare Dallas subscribers. A ticket guarantees a souvenir glass stein and drink specials at each bar. The crawl will run from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Stewart said a list of “fantastic” costume contest prizes incentivize the largely dressed up crowd. Queen Elizabeth, who is always in attendance, is a full drag fit.

“They see us coming, for sure,” Stewart said. “It’s quite a sight to behold walking around the neighborhood.”

Actors will perform some of the “greatest hits” from Shakespeare’s work at each location, Stewart said. The group Shakespeare Everywhere will also have a guest appearance.

“We do (scenes) that are fun and might go well with a pint of beer and get everyone riled up,” Stewart said.
