His older brother, Rawleigh Williams III — a former Bishop Lynch and Arkansas running back — told The Dallas Morning News Brian died on Sunday morning from severe heat stroke after running a half marathon the day before in Irving.

Williams III had announced the news in an Instagram post Sunday.

“B you are my heart,” he wrote. “The BEST version of us in every single way B. I don’t think I can make it without you but I’m going to try for our parents and our sister. I love you brother.”

Williams earned first-team all-state honors and set a school record with 23 career interceptions, returning four for touchdowns. He also scored twice on punt returns while helping lead Bishop Dunne to a TAPPS Division I state championship. He was selected to the Under Armour All-America Game.

A four-star recruit, Williams played three seasons at Texas A&M, appearing in 10 games in both 2019 and 2020.

Texas A&M head football coach Mike Elko released a statement:

“The Texas A&M Football Family is heartbroken by the sudden passing of Brian Williams. Brian was a beloved son, brother, teammate, and Aggie. He was an outstanding young man, on and off the field, and will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Williams family.”

Bishop Dunne High School also released a statement that reads in part:

“While we post a number of Falcon family deaths, it is especially difficult when we must share the death of someone who leaves us so early in life. Brian Williams ’19, who graduated with an engineering degree from Texas A&M last year, passed away due to a severe heat stroke during a half marathon last weekend, according to his brother Rawleigh.
