Adams helped launch his school’s journalism program, served as band president, and is an AP program ambassador and NHS member. He was recently named a 2025 TCU Community Scholar, earning a four-year academic scholarship to Texas Christian University where he plans to major in sports broadcasting or journalism.

“Around the start of my sophomore year, I knew that it was kind of a need for like, media programs and initiatives like where we could, maybe we could cover certain stories here,” Adams said about starting the journalism program. “A lot opportunities for students to travel abroad and do different enrichment camps throughout the summer, things like that. And there was not really a place for us to really cover that, and for the school to really have an outlet to distribute that to parents and also people around the community as well.”

So with the help of a couple of other students, Adams helped launch a yearbook program and a podcast.

Adams has been involved in band from 6th through 12th grade and plays the bass guitar and euphonium. He’s been named to the TMEA all region jazz band twice, and the DMEA all star jazz band three times.

“And as president, just seeing the program grow and passing the torch down to the current, now senior, brothers is very fulfilling to see,” Adams said.

Adams said being so involved throughout his high school experience has shaped him into who he is and has prepared him for his future endeavors.

“Knowing the role I had here, knowing the opportunities to spread my knowledge and wisdom to some of the younger students here, it was really one thing I kind of was passionate about, especially my later years here,” Adams said. “Honestly, I think this place gave me room to grow and make mistakes and learn from them along the way. I think I have a lot of teachers here that supported me and we’re very close knit family type of environment here. So having that type of support system and being able to have this opportunity, to grow and not try to fall into a certain group and be able to be your true, unique, authentic self, that allowed me to grow and be more involved.”

Adams goals include being a sports analyst or broadcaster for a major sports corporation. He says music is something he may stay involved with at TCU.

With graduation on Sunday, he says it is bittersweet.

“I’ve spent the last seven years here, being with the same group of guys pretty much almost half your life, it’s definitely kind of different to see everybody go the different ways,” Adams said. “But I feel like throughout this year has kind of been this kind of countdown to, like this final week and final moments. So I’m very excited for graduation day and see how the emotions go and things like that. I’m very proud of what as a class and what myself has accomplished here.”
