“Our audience is a bit older, as am I,” says producer Kirby Warnock, “So we’re showing it in the afternoon as a matinee so our fans won’t have to drive home in the dark.”

Relying on dozens of period photographs from Buddy magazine staffers Kirby Warnock, Stoney Burns and Ron McKeown, When Dallas Rocked includes interviews with, John Rody, Ira Lipson, Jon Dillon, Jimmie Vaughan, Angus Wynne and Stephen Tobolowsky. When Dallas Rocked is a welcome time warp for baby boomers and an eye-opening history lesson for millennials who believe that nothing cool ever happened in Dallas. It also highlights the career of Jimmie Vaughan and younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan, who got their starts in Dallas long before moving to Austin.

There will be a Q&A with the filmmaker following the show.

Friday night, June 13, the nearby Kessler Theater will host a Mother Blue’s Reunion for patrons, employees and fans of the legendary Dallas night club. Featuring music by Lynx, Lightning and Jim Suhler, the evening will be a remembrance of a nightclub that entered legendary status after Ray Wylie Hubbard’s recording of “Mother Blues” a tribute to the place where he met his current wife, Judy.

Emcee will be Kirby Warnock, who will bring vintage photos and tales of the club, as well as seeking any stories or artifacts from the audience.
